PURPOSE: To provide a method for finishing a wooden surface to avoid a conventional process and unnecessary byproducts. CONSTITUTION: The method for finishing a wooden surface comprises a process wherein a composition of a thermosetting adhesive and a mat is applied to a wooden surface. The mat comprises wood fiber, a thermosetting resin and at least one other fiber having a longer length than the wood fiber. Heat and pressure are applied sufficient to bond the components to each other and to the wooden surface.
