[Also in Division B5] A device for testing for the presence or amount of a specific substance in a liquid comprises a base member 10 of transparent polystyrene, or some other organo-plastic material, or of wood, paper, glass, or metal, and at least one test segment e.g. 12a of bibulous material, e.g. filter paper, containing a test reagent. As shown the device includes five test segments containing reagents to analyse for pH (Methyl red, bromthymol glue reagent of specification No. 997,603) occult blood (cumene hydroperoxide, o-tolidine, quinine reagent of specification 893,318) albumin (tetrabromphenol reagent of specification 853,643), glucose (glucose oxidase, peroxidase, o-tolidine reagent of specification 949,716), and ketone bodies (sodium nitroprusside, glycine, diaminopropanol, aminomethyl-propane diol reagent of specification 884,165), respectively. The segments are secured to the base member mechanically, by fusing, by an adhesive, or by double side pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, and may be secured to both sides of the base member either in opposed or staggered relation.
