PURPOSE: To provide an improved inflatable prosthesis that gives radially a pressure along the actual length of the urethra, by mounting one part of an elastomer member on a structure member and the other part on the front end of a balloon, and partially restricting the inflation of the prosthesis in the axial direction when the balloon is expanded. CONSTITUTION: A balloon 30 is located around an internal housing 20 and is connected to the internal housing 20 at the front connecting positions 32, 34 and the rear connecting position 34, so that the space formed between the balloon 30 and the internal housing 20 between the connecting positions 32, 34 is sealed airtight. A cylindrical felt plug 40 is connected to the front end of a plug 26 and the front end 28 of the internal housing 20 at the connecting position 42. The felt plug 40 is to promote the inner tissue expansion and prevent the inflatable prosthesis 10 once moved from moving further. The elasticity of the internal housing 20, though the extension of the prosthesis 10 in the axial direction when the balloon 30 is expanded is restricted, allows some extension of the prosthesis 10 in the axial direction. When the prosthesis 10 is inflated, the front end of the prosthesis 10 is inflated outward mainly in the radial direction.
