Method and device for winding strips of paper which have been torn off a continuous web (stock reel) onto a hollow core; the tearing is effected by means of a periodic, preformed perforation in the front part of the web; this perforation is brought about between two rotating drums, one of which (the separating roller) bears a projecting blade which periodically interacts with a groove in the other drum (the cut-off roller).
