A bag saver, for saving and storing plastic shopping bags at their point of use comprises a frame, for use as part of a garbage disposal, having a hinged hollow lid. The hollow lid includes provision for the storage of plastic bags therein. While intended for use with shopping bags, it will be evident that specifically designated garbage bags may also be readily stored within the lid. The underlying frame may be secured to a support such as a cupboard door, to serve as a garbage container, by the suspension of a suitable bag in draped relation over the frame, the hollow lid serving to enclose the mouth of the draped bag. In an alternative embodiment the frame may be mounted upon a garbage container, wherein a bag may be inserted, if desired.
