PURPOSE:To reduce the fatigue of an operator, and concurrently enhance safety by automating fuel control for an engine and brake control in response to an inter vehicle distance between a pushing vehicle and a pushed vehicle. CONSTITUTION:The device is made up of a distance detecting means 3 detecting an inter vehicle distance L between a pushing vehicle and a pushed vehicle, a distance comparator 4 comparing a distance L detected by the distance detecting means 3 with a set distance L0 in which a vehicle speed (v) is automatically controlled, a vehicle speed detecting means 3, an engine fuel controller 13, and of a brake controller 15. When the inter vehicle distance L detected by the distance detecting means 3 is less than the set distance L0 in which a vehicle speed is automatically controlled, a vehicle speed is controlled to be specified by automatically controlling engine fuel to be injected, or the braking force of a brake.
