A method for determining whether an autochthonous tumor in a tumor-bearer is immunogenic in the host of origin. The method comprises the steps of obtaining a sample of the progressively growing tumor from the tumor-bearer and eluting the sample with hypotonic salt to produce an eluate. The eluate is evaluated to determine whether there is present in the eluate any tumor-bound specific anti-tumor antibody. Tissue cultures of tumor lines with similar tissue origins as the human tumor being tested are obtained. Determining whether an immunoglobulin component in the tumor eluate shows a preference of binding to the cultured tumor cells as compared to normal fibroblast lines. If the tumor in the host is immunogenic, then B cells and T cells of the tumor-bearer can be used to generate specific anti-oncotope effectors. |
