<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a ceramic orthodontic bracket comparatively easily detachable from the surface of a tooth, by connecting a central section and an end section on the tongue side of a channel and equipping a breakable web expanding longitudinally along the channel. CONSTITUTION: A central section and an end section 22, 24 of a orthodontic ceramic bracket 20 respectively include bite side and gingiva side tie wings 26, 28 expanding on an undercut or a groove for accepting a ligature of the bracket 20. The base of the central section 22 and the base of the end section 24 are mutually connected by a thin fragile web 38 expanding right under and along the whole length of a channel 32 for detaching and the channel 32 has a round bottom to increase the breakability of the web along the central longitudinal axis of the channel. When an orthodontic doctor desires to detach the bracket 20 from a tooth 40, he/she uses a pliers type tool to break the cementing bond between the bracket 20 and the tooth 40.</p> |
