PURPOSE:To provide a frame-retardant resin composition which does not need a cross-linking step, is excellent in flexibility and passes the vehicle material burning test and an electric wire and cable made by using the composition. CONSTITUTION:The resin composition is obtained by incorporating 5-40wt.% metal hydroxide, 0.5-5wt.% red phosphorus, 1-10wt.% silica and 1-10wt.% antimony trioxide into a vinyl chloride/urethane resin composition consisting of a vinyl chloride resin composition made by using a vinyl chloride resin at least 20wt.% of which has a degree of polymerization of 2,600 or higher and a urethane resin composition having a Shore D hardness of at least 20, wherein the urethane resin composition accounts for 30-70wt.% of the vinyl chloride/ urethane resin composition. |
