<p>The speed controller, for an electric motor in a washing machine, dishwasher or similar appliance, comprises a projecting toothed rim (5) on the motor fan (4), and a detector (6) which is able to monitor the passage of the teeth and provide a signal for a regulator which sets the motor speed at the required rate. The fan and toothed ring are located in the motor housing and they can be moulded from plastic in one piece, with the detector in the form of an optical sensor with a light beam interrupted by the passage of the teeth, or the teeth can be of metal and the sensor magnetic.</p> |
