The device has a frame mounted on the back of the vehicle with parallel, longitudinal sides whose width correspond to the width of the load area of the vehicle. On each of the longitudinal sides are at least two height adjustable legs which can extend out from the frame. The legs can move vertically and be supported on the ground. The frame is liftable from the load carrying area of the vehicle such that in the elevated position the vehicle can be driven out from underneath. The support legs are releasably attached to the frame via horizontal, hollow support members, into which the legs can be fitted. The legs have a support section on their upper ends which can be pivoted through 90 deg when in use and which can be attached to the frame.
