The supporting bracket (1) has an inverted T-shaped cross-section with two lateral fins (2) and a vertical member (5) which has a hole (7) near its upper edge. The bracket can be made by extrusion from a lightweight metal alloy, and has a cylindrical reinforcing bead (6) along its upper edge. The bracket can be cut to any required length, and made to support a number of panels (3) at the same time, with the side fins engaging with grooves in the panel edges.
