Two parallel bending dies (3,4) secure the material between them for engagement by a roller (9) which rotates about an axis (0) located between the two dies. A guidance and drive mechanism moves the material between the dies, and an ejector (E) is provided to project upwards between the dies in a direction parallel to their axes. The ejector moves through a vertical distance sufficient to move the material clear of the dies and the trajectory of the bending roller. The ejector is actuated by a piston which is coaxial with the axis of rotation, and which is driven upwardly under fluid pressure and biassed to return to its lower position by a stacked assembly of spring washers (5).
