PURPOSE:To provide the rubbing cloth which is low in charged voltage due to static electricity and does not deteriorate orientation characteristics. CONSTITUTION:Threads 41 made of conductive fiber are woven in the rubbing cloth 35 in stripes (or in a lattice shape) to specific width. The conductive threads 41 woven in the rubbing cloth 35 divide the rubbing cloth 35 into plural capacity bodies, so the individual capacity bodies increase in capacity and then decrease in charged voltage for a certain charging quantity. Consequently, the rubbing cloth 35 is decreased in the voltage value of static electricity migrating when the rubbing cloth abruptly touches or leaves an orientation film or substrate to evade the destruction of the orientation film, substrate or an internal element such as a TFT. The amount of the conductive threads which are woven is very small, so the orientation characteristics determined by basic thread components occupying the majority of the rubbing cloth 35 are not affected, so optimum fiber can be used matching the material of the orientation film and deterioration in orientation characteristics due to rubbing can be prevented. |
