METHOD OF RESTRUCTURALIZING AND QUANTIZING DATA FROM GENERATION SOURCE WITH MEMORY AND ITS DEVICE

PURPOSE: To provide a structured quantizer for a generation source with storage which obtains an improved approximation of a prescribed code book boundary. CONSTITUTION: When data obtained from the generation source with storage is quantized, a dither string (where a sample is included in a Voronoi region of an unpartitioned lattice or a first level of lattice division used for generation of a trellis code) is added to obtain an improved approximation of a prescribed code boon boundary. A data string generated by the generation source with storage is quantized to a closest approximation string of a prescribed trellis code based on coset division of a prescribed lattice for translation to a coset lattice. Next, the trellis code string is filtered by an inverse generation source filter. A dither sample is added to each sample of the filtered trellis code string so that the sum of the dither sample and the filtered trellis code string sample exists on a super-lattice of the coset lattice and the dither sample exists in the Voronoi region of the super-lattice.
