The safety lock comprises a locking finger (7) activated by a rotating control rod (4) which tips it from a locked position, where it is located behind the rebate (1a) which edges the box opening (1), to an open position where it is disengaged from the rebate. The finger is screwed onto a threaded part (4a) of the rod to which it has angular friction contact. Rotation of the control rod causes, as well as tipping of the finger between stops (9) at the end of its travel, its axial displacement along the rod axis. Friction is obtained by means of a spring (6) which holds in contact the threads of the threaded part and a tapped hole (7a) in the finger. The rod has a longitudinally corrugated part which is pushed inside a deformable sheath fixed to the finger.
