<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a library device which enables a recording medium CONSTITUTION:When a cartridge 1 is changed, the cartridge 1 taken out of a drive part 2 is stored in the free storage part 3a' of a 1st group G1 which is closest to the drive part 2 and then an optional cartridge 1 is taken out of one of 1st-4th groups G1-G4 and loaded in the drive part 2, so the new cartridge 1 is loaded in the drive part 2 in an extremely short time. When the new cartridge 1 is stored in a group other than the 1st group G1, cartridges 1 of the lowest frequency of use in the respective groups are moved sequentially to free storage parts 3a' of groups of following longer conveyance distances in order from the 1st group G1, so the recording media of high frequencies of use are always arranged in order from the 1st group G1 of the longest conveyance distance.</p> |
