PERSONAL COMMUNICATION APPARATUS WITH REDUCIBLE KEYBOARD

PURPOSE: To make a touch screen display suitable for a handheld mobile personal communication unit by constituting the touch screen display by an extensible/ reducible data display area and a reducible/extensible keyboard. CONSTITUTION: A user interface including a touch screen display is provided with the personal communication equipment to provide a communication function or an editorial function by the user interface. In an editor mode constituted in this way, a first screen including a restricted data input area and a complete keyboard is displayed and converted into a second screen provided with a extension data display area and a reduction keyboard with a key of a single line by selecting a specified key. When the specified key is selected, the initial screen is recovered. Plural lines of text are displayed in the extension data display area, by which various positions of a document which is being edited are easily selected by a user. The personal communication unit 10 is constituted by a navigator program 80 provided with a disk operation system 79 to enable the personal communication unit 10 to perform such motion.
