PURPOSE:To prevent the intrusion of moisture to improve the durability of organic thin film type electroluminescent element by containing at least one kind of specified carbonate compounds in a sealing protecting layer for protect ing a laminated product which is formed of organic compound layer pinched by a positive electrode and a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A laminated product, which is formed of a positive electrode 2, a hole carrying layer 3, a light emitting layer 4 and a negative electrode 5, is arranged on a substrate 1 made of glass or the like, and a sealing protecting layer 6 is provided so as to protect this laminated product. The protecting layer 6 is mainly composed of at least one kind of carbonate compound such as the reaction product at 2000 or less of molecular quantity of the hydroxy compound and the bis(chloroformate) compound. When the molecular quantity exceeds 2000, decomposition is generated at the time of forming a film to lower the performance of the sealing protecting layer. Since an electroluminescent element is shielded for protection from the moisture of the external field, an electroluminescent element having the excellent durability without deterioration such as a dark spot can be obtained. |
