PURPOSE:To provide a bill discrimination device which can surely detect illegal bill extracting operation using a tape, a cord, etc., without causing any trouble such as a bill jam. CONSTITUTION:A means which detects a tape, a cord, etc., is composed of plural optical sensors S2 in the width direction of bill conveyance path to eliminate the need to arrange many holes, slits, etc., in the bill conveyance path. Consequently, trouble such as a bill jam is precluded and a tape of cord 16 which is not stiff can surely be detected. When extraction prevention levers 13 and the optical sensors S2 are provided together, the extraction prevention levers 13 are interposed between the optical sensors S, and compensate a detection omission of the optical sensors S2. |
