<p>PURPOSE: To control the direction of combustion of arc with a structurally simple means not requiring much maintenance work, concerning a DC arc furnace for melting metal where both electrodes are connected to a DC current source through a lead wire and at least partially separated magnetically form loaded material by a shield. CONSTITUTION: One hand of a DC current source is connected to a bottom electrode 25 through two pieces at least of lead wire parts 27 and 29, and each line has lead wire parts 27 and 29 led in parallel with a main axis I, and protective plates 31 and 32 for weakening the magnetic field generated by an arc current are provided between lead wire parts 27 and 29 and upper vessels 12 and 13, and the protective plates 31 and 32 can shift along the upper vessels 12 and 13, using a drive 23 connected to those.</p> |
