摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To manufacture the low-cost liquid crystal display device whose manufacture process is simple without lowering the manufacture yield by forming a pixel electrode of an upper-layer pixel electrode and a lower-layer pixel electrode across an insulating film. CONSTITUTION:The pixel electrode is formed in two-layered structure of the upper-layer pixel electrode 3 and lower-layer pixel electrode 4 across the insulating film 8. An additional capacitance Cs for holding a voltage applied to a liquid crystal material 10 for a certain period and an overlap capacitance Ca between the upper-layer pixel electrode 3 and lower-layer pixel electrode 4 are formed between the upper-layer pixel electrode 3 and an adjacent scanning signal wire 1'. In this case, the upper-layer pixel electrode 3 and lower-layer pixel electrode 4 overlap with each other across the gate insulating film 8 to large area, so the overlap capacitance Ca between the upper and lower pixel electrodes 3 and 4 becomes greatly large. Consequently, the lower-layer pixel electrode 4 and upper-layer pixel electrode 3 operate equally and no display defect is caused even if part of the pattern of the upper-layer pixel electrode 3 or lower-layer pixel electrode 4 is absent.</p>
