The apparatus for detecting an initial position of a multi-way valve of a tableware washer comprises: a magnet fixed to a given part of a rotating/moving pipe; and a read switch fixed onto a case to detect an approach of the magnet when the rotating/moving pipe rotates and output it as an initial position detecting signal to a controller. Thus a desired outlet can be exactly selected and switched.
