PURPOSE: To provide a superior optical communication equipment that easily contains an arbitrary number of optical elements in one and the same package and that especially encapsulates a couple of optical elements simultaneously, so as to easily configure a double wavelength transmitter or a double wavelength receiver or a double wavelength transmitter-receiver. CONSTITUTION: This optical communication equipment has an active semiconductor optical element 44 and an electronic circuit for operating the optical element. A lead frame section is connected to the electronic circuit. A first mold package 30 having a mold support member 36 encloses the electronic circuit. An optical means 40, having an optical base member 42 placed on the mold support member, supports the active semiconductor optical element 44. A second mold package is placed to cover the electronic circuit and the optical base member.
