The vehicle seat (10) has a seat plate (12) which is connected to a pivotably moveable back-rest (14). The seat has an L-shaped base arrangement (18) on which the horizontal part (20) of the seat is set, and on which the vertical part (22) of the back rest is supported. The seat plate (12) is provided on the underside with engagement parts (28) spaced apart from each other. A fixed position bearing device (30) with a counter engagement part (34) is provided to lock with a corresponding engagement organ. Springs (38) stand out from the underside (36) of the seat plate which are spaced apart from each other in the seat transverse direction and which are slidingly mounted to be moveable on the horizontal section (29) of the base structure (18).
