A fuel station for road vehicles has hand held nozzle units that have a sleeve section of steel that can be electronically activated to increase in diameter. Once the nozzle section is inserted into the filling point of a vehicle, the activation takes place and the nozzle cannot be removed. Deactivation requires a signal generated from the control panel in the payment booth.
