An ink jet printhead comprises:- (i) a silicon substrate 4, (ii) an array of electrodes and thermal elements formed on a surface of said substrate (iii) a photosensitive layer 6 overlying all the electrode structure (but not the thermal elements per se), said photosensitive layer having ink ducts and nozzles 14 formed therein. (v) a top cover 10 bonded to the photosensitive layer by adhesive 8 the arrangement being characterised by the incorporation of an ink chamber 12 overlying at least part of the electrode structure; in which the photosensitive layer functions as a passivating layer between the electrode structure and ink in the ink chamber. <IMAGE>
