To the skirting board (10) is a releasably connectable holding strip (16) which can be glued to a corresponding position of the wall (14) and/or the ceiling. Pref. the holding strip is of the self-adhesive type. For anchoring of the holding strip an adhesive may be applied to the wall and/or ceiling. The rear side of the skirting board, facing the wall or ceiling on assembly, may be fitted with a counter-holding strip (17), or a counter holding layer.
