The large area pushbutton actuator knob operates on a circuit board (2) mounted switch (4). The pushbutton has a carrier (6) that moves within a housing (1) and a mechanism (11,12) is used to prevent tipping and jamming when an off centre force (F) is applied. The mechanism has two housing fixed pivot points (8,8a) for meshing (13) quadrant toothed levers. The other ends have rollers that move in guides (15). When a force is applied on one side, a similar force is generated on the other.
