<p>The present invention relates to a disease resistant Catharanthus seed, Catharanthus plant, Catharanthus variety and Catharanthus hybrid. More specifically, the invention relates to a Catharanthus plant having resistance to the fungal disease Phytophthora. The invention also relates to an increased level of resistance to aphids and other pests and an increased level of total alkaloid content. The invention further relates to the method of crossing Catharanthus plants containing the resistance to Phytophthora to produce disease resistance and increased total alkaloid level in Catharanthus plants and in other crop plants.</p> |
