Prediction of load requirement in control of internal combustion engine

The process provides for a precise delivery of fuel/air mixture to the cylinders of the internal combustion engine in relation to the torque requirements of the engine. The engine (100) has a fuel/air mixture inlet through a duct (102), with a by-pass (114) controlled by throttle valves (110 and 115) respectively. An air volume sensor (106), temperature sensor (108) and air pressure sensor (112) provide signals to the engine management unit (122) which then controls the fuel injection jet (113) and by-pass throttle (115). Data is also provided by a crankshaft angle detector (118), engine temperature sensor (119) and exhaust gas acid detector (116). The rate of increase in load is compared with a maximum reference load and fuel injection automatically adjusted accordingly.
