Self-cleaning, dewatering filter for sewage sludge or slurry

The process provides partial de-watering of raw sewage sludge using two or more completely filled filter vessels (10-16). Their casings are constructed as filters, through which the sludge water can be filtered off. Each chamber is divided by a double sided, double action piston (30), into two working chambers (32,34). Using pressurised raw sludge as the working medium, the piston can be moved from end to end of the filter chambers. Further details of the equipment are also claimed.
