Impurity separator for solid, liquid or gaseous materials

Impurity separator (1) separates impurities from media, e.g. lubrication oil. It has at least one storage chamber (8) for reception of impurities separated directly from at least one separation chamber (4) via at least one impurity overflow (46) and has discharge devices for separated impurities from at least one storage chamber (8). A retention device keeps at least a part of any impurities in at least one storage chamber (8), preventing back mixing with a medium in a separation chamber (4), esp. during impurity discharge and/or flow near the impurity overflow.
