Method for loading transporter with separate items

The method involves the items (1) being loaded from a linear feed (5) onto the rotating transporter (13) to move to the next process. The linear feed moves at least two items in each group to locate between curved guides (21) which move towards the rotating transporter and which pre-align the items to transfer into the recesses (23) in the transporter simultaneously for each group. The curved guides are on an endless belt mounting running radial to the rotating transporter. The feed is regulated to move each group onto the rotating transporter and can be at a constant speed or with intermittent drive. The relative spacing of the items in each group is controlled by fixed separating guides (27). The items are circular e.g. bottles, cans etc.
