On line archiving system for printed data

The system has the output of a host computer transmitted to the interface of a controller coupled to a printer. The data is received in coded or compressed form and is received by the raster image processor (RIP) built into the controller. It produces data in expanded, compressed or coded form simultaneously. A transmitting interface provides the information in a form suitable for archiving, while providing the matrix output for printing.
