The shaft comprises a jacketed pipe with a flexible core located inside it, connecting a drive and a driven unit. A support point (2) is located between the ends of the shaft, which takes up the play between the jacketed pipe (3) and the core (1,1a). The support consists of a distance element (21,22,25) located on the core or on the internal wall of the pipe, and is an injection moulded plastics component. It has spring elastic projections, which fix on to the pipe internal wall or the core.
