<p>A device for bonding together two strips of wrapping material 2 and 3 comprises a conveyor 4 by which the strips are restrained from one side, eg by suction chamber 11, and a bonding means in the form of a heater plate 16 on the opposite side of the strips, operating in conjunction with a sector 6 of the conveyor, by which the strips are bonded together. The conveyor incorporates at least one cooling chamber 8 supplied with a cooling fluid such as compressed air, positioned to at least coincide with the end of the sector 6, the function of which is to lower the temperature of the strips while still subject to the action of the heater plate and to maintain the temperature within safe limits even in the event that the velocity of the conveyor is reduced. The cooling means may respond to a reduction in angular velocity of the conveyor compared with a normal angular velocity. The two strips may be a tear ribbon and a strip of wrapping material. <IMAGE></p> |
