A lubricating device for mounting on a railway vehicle for lubricating flanges of wheels on the railway vehicle and a contact side of an outside rail, when the railway vehicle rounds a lefthand curved track or a righthand curved track is provided. The lubricating device comprises a shallow V-shaped chamber liquid switch positioned vertically to the railway vehicle with a right arm and a left arm extending in a plane perpendicular to a line of travel of the railway vehicle. There is a lefthand electrical contact at the top of the lefthand arm and a righthand electrical contact at the top of the righthand arm with a common electrical contact at the base of the chamber. The chamber contains an electrical conductive liquid at a sufficient height such that a side force representing a predetermined centrifugal force from the railway vehicle rounding a curved track, causes the liquid to rise in either the lefthand arm to contact the lefthand electrical contact and close a lefthand electrical circuit or to rise in the righthand arm to contact the righthand electrical contact and close a righthand electrical circuit. The lefthand electrical circuit activates a righthand lubricating pump to lubricate a contact side of an outside rail of a righthand curved track, and the righthand electrical circuit activates a lefthand lubricating pump to lubricate a contact side of an outside rail of a lefthand curved track.
