An apparatus comprises a gimbal (13) and an antenna (11) disposed on the gimbal (13). A control processor (15) is coupled to the gimbal (13) for generating control signals to position the antenna (11). A resolver (14) and a derivative-type processing circuit are disposed in an inner feedback loop that is coupled to the gimbal (13), whereby the resolver (14) is adapted to provide resolver signals that are processed by the derivative-type processing circuit and are fed back to the gimbal (13) to stabilize the gimbal (13) and correct for gimbal flexibility. <IMAGE>
