A teether 40 is described for pacifying a teething infant comprising a bite portion 42 containing a vibrator, preferably driven by an electric motor, which when chewed by the infant alleviates teething pain. The teether is preferably constructed such that the bite portion is vibrated automatically when the teether is in use without the need for the teether to be switched on by an adult.
