PURPOSE:To protect a passenger at a rear seat from the rear end collision of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:An air bag device for an automobile is mounted on a rear package tray 13 disposed between a rear seat 11 and a rear window 12 and operation is controlled along with deceleration detecting operation of a deceleration sensor 8 disposed at the mounting portion of a rear bumper 7. Thereby, when a vehicle is collided from the rear, an air bag device 1 is operated through detection of deceleration of the deceleration sensor 8 and an air bag body 3 injected with nitrogen gas is caused to protect the head part of a passenger A at a rear seat. |
