PURPOSE:To produce a flame-retardant composition by carrying out pressure- filtration of an aqueous solution of amidophosphazene containing a large amount of ammonium chloride with a specific semipermeable membrane, thereby removing ammonium chloride in an extremely high efficiency and to provide a flame- retarding process. CONSTITUTION:This process for the production of a flame-retardant composition composed mainly of an amidophosphazene is characterized by the contact of an aqueous solution of an amidophosphazene containing >=10wt.% of ammonium chloride based on the amidophosphazene with a charged semipermeable membrane and the application of pressure to the aqueous solution to permeate ammonium chloride together with water through the semipermeable membrane and adjust the ratio of ammonium chloride to the amidophosphazene to 0.1-10wt.%. A cellulosic substance can be flame-retarded by using the flame- retardant composition. |
