PURPOSE:To obtain a sintered titanium compound imparted with lubricity to reduce the friction coefficient and having improved toughness in sintered state. CONSTITUTION:This titanium compound is composed mainly of <=99vol.% of titanium carbide and 1-50vol.% of graphite. A part or total of the graphite exists in the form of carbon fiber. The sintered material preferably contains >=0.1vol.% of at least one kind of substances selected from nickel, cobalt and their compounds. The titanium carbide preferably contains, as a solid solution, >=0.1wt.% of at least one kind of carbide, nitride, carbonitride and oxide of elements of the groups 4a, 5a and 6a of the Periodic Table excluding titanium carbide. |
