PURPOSE:To provide a production process for sintered artificial jewels which can inexpensively give synthetic jewels of complicated forms. CONSTITUTION:Alumina powder and magnesia powder are mixed with one or more of chromium oxide, titanium oxide, iron oxide, yttrium oxide, lanthanum oxide and nickel oxide to prepare a starting powder for synthetic jewels. Then, the powder is formed, and the product is sintered by heating at 1,300 to 1,800 deg.C under reduced pressure of 100 to 0.01Pa by means of microwaves of 2.45 to 200GHz frequency to give alumina synthetic jewels such as ruby, blue sapphire, yellow sapphire or the like. |
