<p>PURPOSE: To balance brake energy for multiple brake units by measuring brake torque during brake operations, and generating a brake torque signal which is provided to each brake wheel. CONSTITUTION: This brake energy balancing system balances brake torque of braking wheels 18 of a vehicle having a plurality of cars supported by trucks, for operating and controlling the brakes 78 of each group of braking wheels 18 of the trucks of the vehicle; that is, brake torque is measured and limited by a reference torque signal for a torque reference 50 and a command brake torque signal 52 is generated by a command processor 45. The command brake torque signal 52 is compared with the measured brake torque by a torque comparator 60 to generate brake torque difference signals 62. An energy balancing brake application control signal is provided to the brakes 78 in response to the brake torque difference signals.</p> |
