ORGANIC THIN FILM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain an org. thin film uniform in orientation and arrangement by exposing a crystal face direction of a substrate and forming org. molecules on unbonded groups of the substrate by direct covalent bonds. CONSTITUTION:A crystal face direction of a substrate is exposed by treatment by which a contaminant is not generated on unbonded groups of the substrate or the direction is exposed by removing a contaminant and org. molecules are formed on the unbonded groups by direct covalent bonds to produce the objective org. thin film. In this method, the arrangement of interfacial unbonded parts consisting of atoms constituting the surface of the substrate corresponds preferably to the face direction of the surface of the substrate. The film formed on the surface of the substrate is preferably a monomolecular film or a built-up film of monomolecular films. At least one of S, N and O atoms is preferably interposed between each of the interfacial unbonded parts and each of the org. molecules in the film formed on the surface of the substrate.
