PURPOSE: To carry out double face printing for transferred sheets different it their sizes using inexpensive apparatus structure. CONSTITUTION: This image forming apparatus has a circulating path of a fixed length and a sheet inverting mechanism 68. The mechanism 68 regulates a time till carrying out a transferred sheet carried therein, and controls a passing- through time of the sheet required for passing through the circulating path. The time is determined in response to a length of the sheet to make printing efficiency of the apparatus maximum. The mechanism 68 has an inlet clearance 23 and an outlet clearance 25, and a gate 3 is provided in a terminal of a sheet chute 36. The gate 3 locks a tip of the sheet fed from the inlet clearance 23, and pushes the sheet into the outlet clearance 25 after lapse of a prescribed time. A sheet locking position for the gate 3 is adjusted in response to the length of the sheet. |
