MANUFACTURE OF THERMOPLASTIC RESIN SHEET OR FILM AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE:To make at a high speed a thermoplastic resin sheet or film having good appearance in terms of gloss and surface smoothness irrespective of its thickness and improved mechanical strength by cooling both sides of the sheet or film almost at the same temperature. CONSTITUTION:The extruded film of a thermoplastic resin 2 is fed between a metal endless belt 4 set on the first metal roller 5 and a cast drum 3 and led to an arc shaped pressing part 8 formed between the cast drum 3 and the endless belt 4. The belt 4 is heated at a desired temperature by a heater in the running area 10 between the first metal roller 5 and the third metal roller 7. Short reinforcing fibers are supplied over the whole width of the heated belt 4 from a supply port 20 to be buried in the molten thermoplastic resin along the width in the pressing part 8, making a fiber reinforced sheet.
