PURPOSE: To greatly improve the running characteristics of a pneumatic tire, particularly ground attachability, by stabilizing a profiled block. CONSTITUTION: This pneumatic tire 20, particularly for automobiles, includes a carcass with reinforcing parts and radially inwardly positioned beads 22 and a tread 23 with a profile provided on the carcass. An additional layer 25 for reinforcing the profile is applied on the tread. The additional layer is made of a rubber or thermoplastic material and has a tensile modulus of elasticity that is greater than that of the tread therebelow. The additional layer includes reinforcement supports 32.
