PURPOSE:To provide an activated carbon modified material, its producing method, a removing device for nitrogen oxide and its removing method, which is effective and inexpensive or reducing nitrogen oxide in petroleum or particularly traffic means such as automobiles, high in reducing effect of nitrogen oxide and excellent in contact property with gas. CONSTITUTION:The activated carbon modified material for removing nitrogen oxide contains 5-35wt.% oxygen, 60-95wt.% carbon and 0.5-5wt.% nitrogen. An activated carbon showing 500-700 deg.C exothermic peak in DTA measurement in 20 deg.C/min temp. rising in air and >=500m<2>/g surface area is modified in a nitric acid solution or in a gaseous nitrogen monoxide and/or nitrogen dioxide. |
